HISTORY
It all started in 1988, the founder and CEO of Exotic Group, Jay Tsan, decided to set up a business with a small production of t-shirts with various designs. The products were mostly appreciated by the Mauritian Market and has also met a great success with tourists during their stay in Mauritius. Since this time, the CEO diversified his range of designs and brands. From beach wear inspired by surfing, the brands created were well recognised for their good value for money & colourful designs.

Today the Group is the leader in Fashion Retail and Coffee lifestyle with the well-known brands; Body & Soul, Island Haze, Quiksilver & Roxy and Artisan Coffee with various outlets all around Mauritius.

Creation of Exotic Group



Jay Tsan created Exotic Group as a family-owned business, mainly recognised in Mauritius for its expertise in serigraphy printing on fabrics. Its main activity was the production of clothes for international and local markets.




waikiki



The first brand that was created by the group is Waikiki by end of December in the same year. Clothes branded Waikiki was distributed across many outlets in Mauritius at that time.

1988

nature



With the expansion of Exotic Group, Jay Tsan decided to diversify its designs by creating the brand Nature. Inspired from nature designs, the style was beachwear, which was very trendy during this period.

1990

Sunsations



Exotic Group created the brand Sunsations in 1993. It used to represent Surf designs to make reference to the beach. The distribution of the clothes was still across various outlets in Mauritius at this time. Various elements were founded in the designs, which were hibiscus flowers, beach, surfboard and dolphins. The brand had different category of clothing; T-Shirts, Tops, Skirts, etc…

1993

Coconut Style



Created in 1995, the brand Coconut Style was inspired by tribute designs that was very trendy at this time. The brand was well appreciated for its unique designs by the Mauritian population. The words “Tribal Art” were often used on the designs to make reference to the style of the brand.

1995

Body & Soul



First step in RETAIL


This year marked a big turning point for the group with the opening of the first Body & Soul Store at Magic Lantern, Rose Hill. This new brand was positioned from its launch as chic and trendy with a wide range of tops, shorts, pants, dresses, shirts, etc. Today the brand is the most preferred Fashion Mauritian Brand and has conquered the market with its elegant & chic and workwear collections.

2005

Island Haze



The conquest of Exotic Group continues to the creation of a new brand in 2008, Island Haze. This brand aimed to target a younger audience with an Urban and Street Wear. A choice that has been fruitful. The brand has evolved successfully through years with various stores around the island, introducing the latest fashion trends to youngsters. Well appreciated by the teenagers, the brand has more than 100K of followers & fans on social media.

2008

Quiksilver-Roxy



In 2011, the group widen its scope of public reach and welcomes the international brands QUIKSILVER, ROXY and DC SHOES, for which it is the official representative in Mauritius.

2011

Artisan Coffee



Exotic Group in 2016 reinvented the shopping era by integrating coffee lifestyle. The group launched the first coffee shop of Artisan Coffee in a Body & Soul retail outlet in Port Louis. The concept is simple: have a good time and a good coffee while shopping. This concept in Mauritius has rejuvenated the Mauritian shopping age. Now, customers can have a break in a cosy place near shops and experience a barista-made coffee with impressive latte arts and freshly baked pastries namely: macarons, croissants, muffins, cupcakes, all of that in a vintage setting.

2016

Ebene Head Office



In view to centralise all departments of Exotic Group which were previously split in 3 different locations, the Group inaugurated its Head office in 2018 and all the divisions are now situated in one place.

In the same year, the Group celebrated it’s 30 years and has revamped its logo. The new colours of the group are the black and orange which represent the creativity, passion, energy & elegance.
